2011
GoFastTurnLeft Cup Racing League Rules
1) There will be (2) 13 race segments & (1) 10 race segment to coincide with the current NASCAR points system (end of season "Race for the Case").
2) Scoring is based on NASCAR points allocation. Whatever points a driver is awarded at the end of the race is what the team receives, based on NASCAR's points system. If a selected driver does not make the race, or complete at least (1) lap, (0) points will be awarded. Any penalties assessed by NASCAR will be reflected in the scoring.
3) Each competitor (team) will field (5) drivers each week.
4) A given driver can be used no more than (3) times per 13-race segment, and (2) times during the 10-race playoff. During the playoff segment, all drivers are eligible as choices, not just those in the top 10.
5) Each competitor is responsible for knowing (or checking) which drivers are actually entering a given race. In other words, not every driver on the entry list will make it into every race.
The list of drivers available on the GFTL website when you choose your team for a given race does not indicate whether they're actually attempting to qualify or will be starting, just that they will be racing in some (or all) races during the 2010 season.
If a competitor inadvertently chooses a driver who either isn't attempting the race, or attempts to qualify but is unsuccessful, their team would then have (4) drivers for points scoring purposes.
***NOTE: This is typically not an issue - only when a competitor attempts to field a dark horse, or a driver that doesn't compete every week.
6) Each segment is its own separate entity. In other words, at the start of segment 2, all drivers will be available for use again up to the allotted (3) times. Additionally, there is also no associated carryover of points since each segment is treated as a "new season".
7) There will be an overall "Race for the Chase Winner" across all three segments. The top 10 teams with most points for Segment 1 and Segment 2 combined (or all teams within 400 points of the top score), will compete in Segment 3 as normal, but will also be competing for a first place overall finish by total points accumulated.
8) Team picks have to be made by noon the day of the race. If they are not in by the deadline, the team owner will by default field the team they had the week before. If the (5) drivers used the previous week have hit their "maximum use", they will earn (0) points for the team owner for that week.
